How to Enroll
IlliniCare Health's Family Health Plan is available to:
- Families with children under age 19;
- Pregnant women; and
- Adults ages 19-64 with income up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level.
You also need to live in Boone, Cook, DuPage, Henry, Lake, McHenry, Mercer, Kane, Kankakee, Rock Island, Will or Winnebago counties.
After qualifying for Medicaid, you would have received information from Illinois Client Enrollment Services letting you know to pick a health plan. There are two different ways to become a member of IlliniCare Health:
- By Phone: Call Illinois Client Enrollment Services at 1-877-912-8880 or TDD/TTY 1-866-565-8576. They will enroll you into IlliniCare Health and help you select a PCP.
- Online: Visit Illinois Client Enrollment Services' website and enroll online. You will need your Recipient Number and Social Security Number.
In order to enroll in IlliniCare Health's Family Health Plan, you must be Medicaid eligible. Every year, Medicaid members will have the opportunity to change their health plan after Medicaid redetermination by the Illinois Medicaid Redetermination Project (IMRP). If IMRP determines you are still eligible for Medicaid, you will get a notice in the mail telling you that your Medicaid benefits will continue. Afterward, Illinois Client Enrollment Services will send you a letter informing you that you must enroll in a health plan. You have 60 days to choose a health plan. This time period is called open enrollment. You may choose IlliniCare Health as your health plan at that time.
When can I switch health plans?
You can change your health plan anytime in the first 60 days of receiving the letter from Illinois Client Enrollment Services. This time period is called open enrollment. Enrollees are only able to switch health plans during the open enrollment period.
Can I switch health plans after the open enrollment period?
No. Enrollees are only able to switch health plans during the open enrollment period. You will receive a written notice from Illinois Client Enrollment Services. You will have 60 days to switch plans.
If I decide to switch, when do I start with the new health plan?
You will become active with your new health plan on your anniversary date. To find out when your anniversary date is, contact Illinois Client Enrollment Services at 1-877-912-8880 or TDD/TTY 1-866-565-8576.
